Additional Information
Elbow joint is made of three bones, namely Radius, Ulna and Humerus. These bones help in the straightening and bending of the elbow. Radius is a forearm bone between the wrist and the elbow. Ulna is also a forearm bone amid the wrist and the elbow, running along the Radius. Humerus is the bone of the upper arm between the elbow and the shoulder. A fractured elbow is the one that has a break or injury in one or more of these bones.
The shoulder is made up of three major bones, namely the Scapula, Clavicle and Humerus. These bones are joined with a number of muscles, tendon and ligaments. Any trauma can cause these bones to crack or break and this is termed as shoulder fracture. Shoulder fracture is an extremely painful condition and any sudden blow or fall on the arm or some other impact causes a huge damage to the muscles and tendons in the shoulder. The condition is quite common among sports persons and athletes.
The Rotator Cuff comprises a group of four muscles namely Subscapularis, Supraspinatus Infraspinatus and Teres Minor. These muscles are responsible for providing movement as well as stability to the shoulder joint. A Rotator Cuff injury refers to a condition when any of these muscles get inflamed or damaged due to overuse of shoulder muscles or from repeated overhead motion. The Rotator Cuff may either get partially damaged or get completely torn off. In the latter condition, orthopedic doctors highly recommend prompt surgical treatment.
